Second Life - What an English class can look like
I stumbled upon an event recently of an English class in Second Life. A class that costs money (or Linden $) to attend.
Teacher: Adhams Darkstone
Class Runner: DaniCherrie Destiny - POR
This class: VOICE - English through songs. Comprehension, discussion.
Today's class: "Roxanne" by The Police.
During this class we'll listen to a song, read the lyrics.
Comments and submissions are welcome.
Test voice before class.
The first class is free. If it's the first time contact the Class Runner 30 minutes before class.
Cost: 1500L$ (3.8 euro; 5.8US$; 600YEN)
More classes: http://www.drive-through-esl.info/
The fact that it costs money to attend can be discussed, but the real interesting thing about this event is that it is apparently working. I like the idea, the class layout and the organization.
Head over to their website and you will actually find that it is about language learning within Second Life. They don't only teach English but also Japanese, French and Chinese to name a couple of more. I am impressed by this and this is a sign of what virtual worlds can do for education.
